Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

How long to file court order

When a judge makes a ruling how long do you have to file a court order related to it? Does the fact that nobody ever submitted a court order on a ruling and no court order exists make the ruling invalid?

Re: How long to file court order

A judgment or order of the court does not take effect until it is signed by the judge of record. The failure to submit an order for signature does not invalidate a ruling; rather, it denies the ruling force or validity until entry. If the proposed order was not submitted at the time of relief, by stipulation, or under the seven-day rule, the order will need to be entered at a special court hearing.
