make up parenting time

I get my daughter for 9 consecutive days a month plus all the holidays. My ex and I have agreed that I could have my daughter the last full week of every month. I was supposed to get my daughter on May 20th until May 30th. My ex changed her mind and said that I couldn't have her until May 27th-june 5th.I am considering this visit my June visit. I purposed to her to have my daughter from July 1st until July 17th for 2 weeks, one week would be a make up week. She is saying that I haven't missed any time that has been given we havn't broke any schedule that we agreed to. Do I have the ground to file a motion for makeup parenting time? If not pleaase explain. Thank you

I'd have to see the exact wording of the order or judgment in order to give you an opinion. Since you and your ex seem not to be able to participate in the "give and take" that is necessary to allow each of you flexibility, you will have to stick to the exact wording of the documents in the future. If she tries to change parenting time or deviate from the order, refuse. Document the violation and go to court to enforce it. It is extremely inconvenient when you are not able to have flexibility in the parenting time schedule, but sometimes rigidity is necessary. William S. Stern

If there is a court order specifically granting you parenting time that was missed, you should file a motion for make up parenting time. If the court order is not specific as to the parenting time, that is, it states "reasonable" or "liberal" parenting time, you may have a more difficult time getting make up time. Clearly, if you are given a specific time for parenting time and you have been denied that time you are entitled to make up time. For more info, please contact my office at (248)851-3171.

Yes, file a motion for make up parenting time and also file a parenting time complaint with the Friend of the Court
