marriage

What should I have in a pre-nuptial agreement to cover my property in Louisiana if I get married to someone in Michigan? Is Michigan a community property state?

Re: marriage

Your question concerns me because it implies that you will try to draft your own prenuptial agreement. Please hire an attorney and let the attorney draft the agreement for you to ensure that it is valid and enforceable. These agreements can be complicated, have very specific state law requirements, and are unenforceable when they do not meet state law requirements.

Re: marriage

Rather than me going over with you the requirements of a pre-nupt, if you are asking the question, then you should definitely go to a lawyer who knows this area of the law and have it done correctly. I cannot imagine having enough property to worry about a pre-nuptual agreement, and then doing it yourself. Feel free to call me at 248-353-9400 William S. Stern
