Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Marriage-Using Both Names

I am getting married and would like to keep my last name as well as take his last name. What I would like to know is if I can use each name separately. At times I would like to use my last name (for business purposes) and at other times I would prefer to use his last name (for home purchase, etc.). I do not like the idea of hyphenating the two last names. If this is possible, would I then need to obtain two driver's licenses (one with my last name, the other with his)?

Thanking you in advance!

Re: Marriage-Using Both Names

You may use both names as long as there is no intent to defraud. You would have only one drivers license and one social security card.
