Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Not married but seeking some kind of alimony

I have been living with a man for 10 years and now he wants me to move out. Do I have any rights as far as property or right to stay? Can I get anything for the past 10 years of life I have lost? We are not married.

Re: Not married but seeking some kind of alimony

You have no rights under Michigan law as you were not married. The only exception is if he made you a specific promise that you would receive a specific amount or item if you stayed with him a certain amount of time. You'd need lots of proof and coroboration to prove this. As far as alimony or palimony, you have no rights. Michigan puts a big emphasis on being married. William S. Stern
