Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

medicl coverage and divorce

My husband and I are separated. I have contacted an attorney to file for divorce. My husband is aware I have spoken with some and told me i will probably have to pay his medical insurance. he doesnt have and attorney, nor can he afford one. My cobra plan at work is close to $500.00 a month and I cant afford that as I am still caring for my seventeen year old son and have to get him through another year of high school. He has been collecting disability since March. He attempted suicide in Sept and has severe nerve damage to his hand. Is he eligible for medicaid? His disabiltiy check is close to $1700 per month. Are there any programs that will offer medical insurance to him. I know that if he doesnt have an attorney this may be a mute topic, but he does need medical insurance to continue to see his counselor, psychiatrist and hand surgeron.
