Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Michigan Separation Agreement

My husband and I and going to file a Separation Agreement in Michigan. We At this time, we are still living in the same house and probably will be at the time we file the Agreement.

After the separation is official through the court system, I will be moving to Ohio.

Which address should I use on the separation agreement - the address of our joint home here in Michigan or the one I will be using in Ohio? Thank you.

Re: Michigan Separation Agreement

I strongly recommend that you consult with an attorney before attempting this yourself. I do not understand what you mean by a separation "agreement." Agreements are not filed except when incorporated into and made part of a judgment. Judgments are filed. It has been my experience that Judgments of Separate Maintenance are not a good idea. If you want to separate and divide your property, it is usually a better idea to get a divorce.

Good luck.
