Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

money problem

my wife has gone out and put herself into debt. she has bill collectors calling her all the time. our Michigan tax return has been garnished because of her debt problem. I want to file for divorce but I need to know will I be held responsible for any of her debt because I was married to her, and what can I do to protect myself from her debt problem

If your wife spent the money at the Casino, she will be responsible. If she spent it on household things where you gained some benefit, you will have some responsibility. There may bea gray area. See a lawyer. William S. Stern
