Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Why are mother/father in Michigan who share custody of 10 month old child allowed to disobey custody orders and not bring the child home ever again? What is the law on that? The father of my grandson took him for 2 weeks now and the police will not get involved because it is a civil matter???!!!

The court that issued the custody ordered has the authority to issue a contempt citation, drag the offending party before the court and do something to enforce its order and/or punish the offending party. You have to bring the issue before the judge. The sheriff generally executes the judge's orders.
