Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Want to move to a different state for a better Job but..
Hello,
My live in boyfriend has two daughters from a previous marriage and he got a job offer in the state of Wyoming. He has only visitation rights every other weekend ( ex only lets him see the girls when its convenet for her ie...one weekend once every few months) He has been to court a few times to see the girls more but she says its to hard for her (courts let her get away with it) yet we are the ones that drive the 2 hour trip to get them at her house.) and pays his child support. He is terrified that if we move out there he will lose visitation with his daughters and never be allowed to see them again. With this new much better paying job he will be able to fly back to michigan every other month and see them for a 7-10 days at a time. We also want to take them to disnesy world in a years time. We want/need to move for the better paying job...but we cant let his daughters have a life without their father.

The solution is to take some of that money from the better paying job, hire a lawyer and motion the court to modify visitation. However, if he really wants to have relationship with his daughters, figure the costs of flying to the daughters periodically and the costs of flying them to Wyoming and make sure that the extra money is worth what you are going to be paying and the inconvenience as well as the diminution in the quality of the relationship. You should be hiring an experienced and aggressive attorney to represent him. There's no reason that he can't see his children regularly.
