Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Moving out of state for economic reasons

I have sole physical/joint legal custody of my 14 and 11 year old children. My husband (who has supplied the support for me and my children) lost his job two months ago and Michigan prospects are bad. We would like to explore better opportunities in other states, but my ex-husband (who has liberal visitation, but does not pay child support), has said that he will not agree to that. What are our options?

Re: Moving out of state for economic reasons

If you have sole legal custody of your children, you can move without the permission of your ex. The exception is that you cannot move is there is a court order that has prohibited a move.
