Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Which order do I appeal?

I recently lost a custody case. The original custody order was entered over a year ago, but it was not final because visitation and support had yet to be determined. Because of delays by the court, friend of the court, and the other side, it took until now to get my final order.

Does appealing the final order automatically mean that the original order that it was based upon is included, or do I have to file a separate appeal?

Re: Which order do I appeal?

It can be argued that you have an appeal of right as the last order was the final order and that 21 days have not elapsed yet. (or has it?) For more info, please contact my office at (248)851-3171.

One appeal of the most recent order. Bill Stern P.S. Your transcript is due much sooner in a custody case than a regular case. You should have an experienced appellate attorney handle your appeal. 248-353-9400
