Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

other parent moving

My sons mother is moving to Tennessee. She says I can have child 2 times a year. Can she do this legally? Doesn't she have to get permission from courts to move him out of Michigan? What are my rights?

Re: other parent moving

Were you married at the time your child was born? Is there a custody order and parenting time schedule now in place? If so, then the custodial parent would have to go before the court and request permission to relocate out of state. In the majority of cases the move is allowed unless it is shown that it is not in the best interests of the child. You need to sit down and discuss your case with an attorney to insure that your rights are protected.
