Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Parental Dissagreement

I am fifteen years old. My parents are divorced. My mother is the custodial parent however my dad has joint custody. There is a law in michigan stating that in order for her to move out of state she has to have my fathers permission. Does that law include my visiting a friend in Wisconsin? If so at what age does that no longer apply?

Re: Parental Dissagreement

You are allowed to travel the country. A parent is not allowed to permanently remove the child from the jurisdiction without court approval. You are talking about a temporary trip. You can visit your friend without violating the order. William S. Stern
