Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
I am planning to file. However, I'm not sure what will happen with the house. We're both on the mortgage and deed. I am willing to leave her the house, but I am also willing to keep it if she wants to leave. If I leave, I am willing to sell off my interest in the house to her for $1 (or give it away if legal) so I can be free of it. However, I worry that if she leaves, she'll insist that I buy out her half. It is worth about half of what we owe, so even selling it won't give her the money if she wants it. Can she force the sale of the house? Can she force me to buy out her interest in it?
