Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Power of Attorney

Hello-

I am going get a power of attorney in Maryland to allow my Mother take care of my daughter for a short period of time. I would like to know if I get the power of attorney in Maryland, would it be a legal document in Michigan. If not, do I then need to apply for the power of attorney in Michigan?

My Mother lives in Michigan and that is where my child will be going.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Re: Power of Attorney

Power of attorney has nothing to do with caring for a child. POA has to do with financial matters only. A simple letter that has been notorized stating that you are granting permission for that person to seek medical attention for your child may be sufficient in the short term. Long term, that person should be made a temporary guardian by a probate court. For more info, please contact my office at (248)851-3171.
