Property given to me by my boyfriend

My boyfriend gave me a used car for my birthday (financed in his name, worth $10,000). We recently broke up, can he just come and take my car (as he has threatened)?

If your boyfriend gave you the car the title to the car should be in your name alone. If that is the case, tell your boyfriend that if he takes the car, you will report it stolen and tell them who the thief is. The car is a gift and it is yours. However, if he kept the title in his name and only allowed you to use the car, then the car is his. William S. Stern
