Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

My question concerns marriage and divorce laws. I would like to get married, but I live in Michigan and Michigan has 'equitable distribution' laws regarding divorce property settlement. I know some states such as California have 'community property' laws regarding divorce property settlement. My question is this: How can I get married without falling under Michigan's laws? Can I get married in a foreign country? Can I move to California? I can never get married under Michigan law because I am already established and cannot give away my things. I am basically trying to keep my things that I have already earned outside of marital property. I have the ability to move to California if necessary, but what about my property in Michigan? I know about pre-nuptual agreements but Michigan judges sometimes throw them out or ignore them. Thank you.

A properly prepared prenuptial agreement can often (but now always) hold up in the long run.
