Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

I have a question about divorce/legal separation. My mom has been married to my dad for close to 30 years and I have only known him to have 3-5 jobs (I am only 21) out of my whole life. He has been physically abusive to my mom, which i don't know is documented or not, but i do know he went to jail once for a while, and he has been physically/mentally/sexually abusive to his 5 five children, which as far as I know none has been documented, but I wouldn't mind going on the stand for my mom's defense. She recently bought a house a few years back and basically pays for everything while he sits around and smokes weed and plays video games. I just want to know if there is a way that she can divorce/seperate(which is just as legally boding as a divorce) without having to pay him alimony or full alimony, recieve full costody of a child and him not being able to contact her. Please any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
