Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Relocation

I want to know if I as a single parent whose never been married to my son's father, have a legal obligation to let him know that I am relocating to another state? He does not pay child support and rarely participates in being a parent to my child.

Re: Relocation

Dear Madam:

This is in response to your email of April 22, 2001, which was received by this office on June 14, 2001.

In response to your questions, in Michigan one must notice the court of relocating with the minor child if there is currently in effect an order governing the residence of the minor child.

Thank you for contacting our office. Should you have any further questions regarding this matter, kindly contact us at (313) 561-5700.

Sincerely,

Blair Moody attorney for Nichols & Eberth, P.C.
