Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

If I am representing myself In Pro Per in Michigan do I have to stand before the Judge "alone", or do I have the right to have a family member with me for help, say with my documentation, but not necessarily there to speak? My ex-wife's lawyer told my wife to sit down the last time we went to court, but my wife just ignored her. The judge didn't say anything, but if it is legal then I would like to have the proper legal reference (law) that would allow that printed out for the next time.

The attorney is correct. You can only represent yourself or hire an attorney, there are no helpers allowed. It could arguably be considered practicing law without a license, a crime in Michigan. Tread lighty. www.kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz

You do not seem well qualified to represent yourself. Lawyers receive years of training to practice law. People are normally better off hiring experts to handle those kinds of jobs. You probably would not do surgery on yourself because you don't have the proper training. I suspect you don't have the proper legal training either.
