request for divorce from different state due to military status
Military member and spouse lives in California for about the past 8 years. Husband has changed his mind to file divorce in California and know is going to file through state of Michigan, due to being home of records. Even though he has never reside there for the past 20 years. He states divorce can be done in 45 days. Wife is disputing custody and divorce issues. Wife is basically totally disabled and not from Michigan. Can husband do this since he is military and have not lived in the state of Michigan for 20 years? If so, what is the basic divorce laws for petitioning, filing and timeline for divorce procedures in Michigan? Individual plans on making second career in California after his Military Career. Please advise.

Greetings; In Michigan, the waiting period for cases with children is 180 days. In regard to his residency, an attorney would have to examine his history to determine his 'home' state.
