Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Restraining Order or PPO
My brothers wife if manic/depresent, currently hurt herself the other night and was arrested. Was released the following morning. Is still in manic state and has been threatening the daughter who is 15. They left the home and stayed with me last night. She is calling the daughter at school and saying she will pay for what she did. Called my brother to work with same threat.
Something has to be done quick, can he get a restraining order or something to get her to leave the house (temporarily) so he, and the two children can stay there until she gets some help. The situation is truly out of control for over a week now and getting worse.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Restraining Order or PPO
If she is not sick enough for an involuntarily commitment from the probate court, a PPO is possible but difficult since it is a mother involved. However, it sounds like she needs meds real bad and is not on the meds. Try to get a PPO through the local circuit court. Of course, try to get her to a psychiatrist to get her on the proper meds.
