Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Revocation of parental rights

My ex- husband got arrested and charged with second-degree assault in

kentucky. he got sentenced to five years in prison (in kentucky). we live in

michigan. we have a child together and are both re-married now. since my ex

is a convicted felon can i have his parental rights terminated? my current

husband wants to adopt my child. i have sole custody of the minor child. also,

what about child support payments? i receive it through friend of the court

and my ex's employer said he would hold his job and continue to make the

support payments, of course this is just a verbal agreement, i'm not really

expecting anything. my main question is about the parental rights, thank you

for any info or suggestions you can give me.

Re: Revocation of parental rights

If the child's father were to agree to terminate his parental rights to allow your husband to adopt the child, we could handle that for you. On the other hand, you don't indicate whether you ex is still in prison. That might determine whether or not the court has grounds to terminate his parental rights involuntarily.
