Re: Runaway
Your daughter's friend does not have to put up with the type of abuse you describe, in addition, her parent's acts amount to slavery. This should be dealt with immediately.
She has several options. She can petition the court for emancipation if she has never been in trouble before, or to have a guardian, such as yourself appointed. Also, as she is turning 17 in March, she may be able to move out when she hits 17 without any problems. But from the sounds of her situation, she needs immediate help. I'd be happy to sit down and talk with you and your daughter's friend to discuss her options. I provide free initial consultations. Call me at 586-992-9981 and we can discuss her options in greater detail.
I wish you and her luck, she is fortunate to have someone who cares enough about her to help her get out of such a terrible situation.
