Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Separation Question

My spouse and I have two houses next door to each other and he has been living at the house he has his business in and I have been living in the family home. Can I legally keep him out of the house I am living in without a legal separtion and agree to stay out of the house he is in if we are not legally seperated? We do have two children living at home at this time.
