Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

single parent seeking custody

I am a single parent although my son's father lives with us. he has no job and is ordered to pay support on two other children of his which he does not see. He has a child that he neither pays support or sees. He has a criminal record and is rather very violent and emotionally abusive to both myself and my son from previous relationship.

I want to get us out of the situation but I also want custody.

Re: single parent seeking custody

Is it your house? If so, consider evicting him. If he has a history of violence, you may want to leave the house temporarily and go to a shelter. You can get a Personal Protection Order from the court to protect you and allow the police to intercede. For more info, please contact my office at (248)851-3171.
