Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
slander - family law
Recently I had to call the Dept. of Social Services to investigate the abuse and neglect of a child who is related to me. I am also a teacher (30 years experience) so I did this only as a last resort when circumstances became such that I had no other choice in the matter. Ever since the report and subsequent investigation, the perpetrators have been making threats to ruin my reputation. Just recently a phone call was made directly to my boss ( the principal) stating a number of things about myself which are not true in an attempt to get me fired. These people have stated to other relatives that they will not quit until they have ruined my reputation in retaliation for ruining theirs. Isn't this slander and what legal steps can I take to protect myself? Since they have already crossed the line by calling my work place, I don't know what else they might do. Just so you know, I have never been in trouble of any kind, not even a traffic ticket. Now they are claiming they have someone who is ''willing to testify about some dirt he knows about me''. That has to be a lie too. How can I stop this, ignoring it isn't helping. Thanks.
