Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
My son's father and I have been separated since my son was one year old, and he is now 8 years old. We were never married. My son's father moved to Florida and doesn't really visit our son except for occasional holidays. I have never filed for child support and my son's father does not help financially. If I file for child support today, can I get child support retroactive? If so, how far back will the courts determine child support?

Although there are some exceptions, support often is calculated to begin when you file your request.
