Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

would like to have my sons father sign off on parental rights. can I file the papers myself or do I need an attorney?

In Michigan, a parent cannot just sign off on parental rights without the child being adopted. You can petition a court to terminate parental rights but they are usually resistant to that even if your situation falls under the statutes to do so because it terminates that child's right to inherit or the state or your right to get child support, as well. http://www.wolverinelaw.com
