Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

I am seriously considering trying to get my son's father's rights taken away. I was wondering if under the following circumtances that would be at all possible?

1. The father isn't on the birth cert., but he has signed a affidavit acknowledging that his is the father.

2. The father has never spent a dime to support his son. He has no means of tranportation nor a job. He does recieve SSI.

3. The father has scizophrenia and does take meds, but is involved in drugs which counteract the meds he takes.

4. Never married, but over the past 3 months we've been seperated, he has already refused to take his son on a day he said he would 3 times ( because he was mad at me). Which has cause me to loose pay at work.

5. He is verbally/mentally abusive to me and it has esculated to him being abusive in front of/and to my son. My son is 2 and the other day his father spit in his face and screamed at him that he never wanted to see him again. And i no longer feel that my son is save in his father's care.
