Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

My sons ex live in girlfriend most recently took their kids and fled to new mexico and we are in Michigan we wont have the funds for a legal representation until this friday howvever everyone we have spoken to has said to file as soon as possible do you think a person not of legal representation as of right now should attempt an ex parte order?

You can operate on yourself but it isn't a good idea. In other words, you may be successful but it is difficult. Why not give some collateral to the lawyer to hold until you pay pursuant to your agreement?
