Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Stalking by a family member

I am a senior citizen. After the passing of my husband I have chosen to remain estranged from all of my family members on my side and my husbands side. The problem is not with my husbands side but mine. My mother, father and my son continue to persue my whereabouts, phone number, address and contact. They all continune to probe anyone who is in contact with me now as to my personal information and how to contact me. I have (since Dec 2, 03) and no longer wish to have any contact with them. How can I legally make this stalking stop?

Re: Stalking by a family member

This does not sound like a legal problem. Obviously, your family cares about you and they are concerned about you. If my mother went MIA, I would do whatever necessary to find her. Maybe it would help to contact your family and talk to them about your wishes and explain why you have chosen to cease communications with them. I would not classify their behavior as "stalking." You might want to contact your local police dept. to find out what kinds of behavior are considered stalking. I do not believe inquiring about your whereabouts qualifies.

This communication does not establish an attorney-client relationship and the information is based on limited, unverified facts.
