Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Stepfather financially liable?

My wife's daughter, who is 18 years old, has been living in Minnesota with her father for years. Now she started college and they (her father and herself)want me, her stepfather, to be financially responsable for the cost of her education. Are there any legal grounds for them to obligate me to pay for her college or for child support for her and her siblings who also live with their biological father, who by the way, makes 80K a year? They are thretening us (my wife and I) with court if I don't pay. My wife does not work and I am the only provider for my family which is composed by my biological 6 year old daughter, my wife, and myself.

Thanks for the answer.

Re: Stepfather financially liable?

There is no basis in Michigan law to make the stepfather responsible.
