Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Tax claim with child support

My ex-wife and I have joint custody of our two children. In our divorce it stated no child support ordered because we each have the children 128 days of the year. We are to each claim one child but now I have been ordered to pay child support on the children and I also carry their medical insurance. Do I have a right to claim both children on my taxes being I supply more than 50 percent of their cost of living?

Re: Tax claim with child support

Believe it or not, it goes by who has physical custody, not who is paying support. Your ex-wife gets the deductions.
