Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

terminating a guardianship

We have a full guardianship in place of a minor child. We have had this guardianship for more than a year with the parents blessing. The mother has now decided that the guardianship me terminated. What are the chances to retain the guardianship?

Re: terminating a guardianship

It depends on the facts of your case and why you were granted guardianship in the first place. If it was, for example, because the parents were drug addicted, and are now clean, then they stand a better chance of obtaining guardianship back of their child. You would have to wait until the parents file paperwork to have the guardianship terminated, or, if the guardianship was temporary, then you would have to file a petition to continue with the current guardianship.
