Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Termination of rights

If a father is unable to completley take care of his children's well being, can he terminate his rights and still be able to see his children. Is there a contract that the mother and father can draw up to make sure that this is legal and binding?

Re: Termination of rights

Non-parents do not have rights of visitation, so even though child support and visitation rights are not connected, by terminating parental rights, the parent gives up any enforceable right to visit with the children. A contract to this effect with the other parent would not be enforceable, if nothing else than beause of public policy.

Re: Termination of rights

A father can not voluntarily terminate his own rights to his children, however, there are agreements you can make which a court mmay accept, for more information please call MArk Snover at 248-258-0800
