Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Termination of Rights

If a persons parental rights were terminated at or around seventeen years of age to three children, and later adopted by their grandmother. Is there a way to gain back parental rights 8 years later, or visitation rights. If the biological mother has continued a relationship with the kids, and was a active person in there lives up until the grandmother became angry with her. Is there any recourse to get her children back now that the children are 13, 12, and 11.

Re: Termination of Rights

Termination means exactly that: termination. The court, unfortunately for you, is not going to flip flop on a decision like this. You are legally no longer their mother, so you're going to have to figure out a way to get on better with their legal guardian until the children are old enough to visit you on their own. I doubt that you can even petition for visitation.

I don't believe so. Unless grandmother wants to allow you to have legal custody. Would require court proceedings and your grandmother's cooperation. For more info. please call (248)851-3171.
