Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

tranfering a minor child in joint custody

My question pertains to the transfer of my minor daughter. We have joint physical and legal custody and we altenate visitation weekly. Our day to make exchanges is on tuesdays. The exchanges have not gone well in the past, involving the police. Today he picked her and infomed me that he will be out of town on next tuesday to a city about 100 miles away and has informed me that I'll have to travel to that town in order to retrieve her. I've been told that the pick up and dropping off is a 50/50 responsibilty. But can he really make me travel all that way just because he picked her up. He has nothing pressing in that town and is only going there on tuesday. It is obvious that he is doing this just to make things difficult. thank you for your time

Re: tranfering a minor child in joint custody

File a motion in court to have the judge state specifically where pick up and delivery occur. Some people are very childish and therefore, must be told exactly what to do. When people cannot be reasonable, you must put such things in court orders, such as pick-up time, drop-off time, etc. If he violates it prove the violation by recording the event and calling the time on the phone and recording the recording.
