Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Vacationing out of state

My ex and I have joint custody, and I am taking my son to see my sister in florida for 7 nights, and the time goes 1 1/2 day over into my ex's parenting time. I have offered this time as trade time, he can have 2 extra days added on his next week, he however, is stating that he will not allow me to take him to FL to see my sister, even though he spoke to my sister and told her he would have no problem with it prior to the purchase of the tickets.

As we are to leave in 2 weeks, any helpful information or resources would be great. I don't understand why he refuses to cooperate on all sides, when we have joint custody; he isn't thinking of my son or his relationship with his aunt, he is thinking of himself.
