Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

I will try to explain my issue best as possible. I was dating a girl for around a year. We split up and she went back to her ex boyfriend. I did not know she was pregnant and she didn't tell me. She had the baby and her ex signed the birth certificate. Her ex left her for someone else. She then decided to contact me and tell me. We paid for an online paternity test. The baby is mine. I want to be in the babies life and want to be his dad. I have the baby alot but i have no rights at all. I would have signed on my child if i would have known. The baby is 18 months old and no one is married. Is there anything i can do to become the legal father?
