Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
My x moved over an hour away and is unwilling to meet me half way to exchange the children. Can I keep them from him until I go to court?

You must ALWAYS obey the court order unless there is a genuine emergency. Your attorney can request an expedited court date if there is urgency.

No, I would not advise you to not honoring the parenting time order. If you do that, you risk being showcaused and possibly held in contempt. What you need to do is bring the issue before the Friend of the Court or the judge to see if the order can be modified due to a change in circumstances. Until then, I would advise you to comply with the order until it changes or else risk being held in contempt. Seek and retain an experienced family law attorney for more assistance.
