Legal Question in Medical Leave in Michigan

family leave act

Has the family leave act been extended to 6 months yet? I have been on maternity leave for 12 weeks but I wish to extend it & still have a job to go back to. I thought President Clinton extended the leave to 6 months. Please Advise

Maximum Leave Period Under the Family Medical Leave Act

The Family Medical Leave Act provides only for 12 weeks of unpaid leave. This period has not been extended. The statute which governs the leave period is found at Title 29 of the United States Code, Section 2612.
