Legal Question in Medical Leave in Michigan
My fiance became preagnant in January '09. 1 Month later, after informing her employer, her employer reduced her wages from 40,000 + 10% commision to 15,000 + commision. He said that in June of the same year he would cut that in half again with the same commision, and did. He said he would do this so her commisions would still give her income during her maternity leave. In September, she began her leave, and he stopped paying her. A case was filed with the EEOC,and was mediated with no outcome. The day after her delivery we received a call stating they wanted to settle but have yet to do so. It is now January again. Since June of '09 I have been paying all of her bills and our joint bills, including all medical expenses for the preagnancy due to the fact she could not afford the health insurance. I have depleated all my savings and had to borrow myself to make some ends meet. I have also recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure due to all the stress. She was diagnosed with post pardham depression probably due to the stress of the situation. Do I personally have a case for a law suit against her employer for all my financial losses and for the stress and physical problems I have been inflicted with due to these circumstances.
