Legal Question in Medical Leave in Michigan
Physician employed by my employer reviewing FEMLA
I work for a large medical center. Staff were informed recently that the medical center had employed a physician to review any FEMLA certification. If this physician disagrees with or questions the plan of care/treatment that my doctor has laid out, he/she can contact my doctor and discuss the plan of care with him. Doesn't this violate my privacy under HIPPA? Is this legal?

The employer must get a signed authorization from you before the employer's doctor can discuss any leave request with your physician.
