Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Contractor work problems

I hired two separate contractors to do work on my home. Each contractor performed poorly in there individual task.

Contractor 1 refuses to acknowledge the damage that they have done to my home.

Contractor 2 was--name removed--dealer that subcontracted the labor portion of the job out. The subcontractors laboring task was an installation, which has problems. The dealer has tried to work with me on repairing the subcontractors work, by sending other laborers out for repairs. In addition the dealer was unable to diagnose an issue with one of the products I purchased from them. The product has never worked properly and has sustained damage from the short usage prior to observing the problem. The manufacturer of the product diagnosed the problem as--name removed--bad installation.

I have paid in excess of $10,000 for this work. What can I do?

Re: Contractor work problems

Two things: File a complaint with the state agency that oversees contractors and sue the contractors. It is doubtful that a lawyer will take such a case on a contingency. Therefore, you'll have to decide if it is worth pouring more money into the situation. William S. Stern 248-353-9400
