Cosigner Rights: Vehicle Title

My question involves personal property located in the State of: Michigan

Please help! I am preparing to purchase a vehicle this week. However, my cosigner does not want to be held liable in the event of any parking tickets being issued for the vehicle and not paid on time (eventhough both are unlikely situations).

Is it necessary for the cosigner on an auto loan to appear on the vehicle title? Is there anyway to get around it?

It is not necessary for a co-signer to be on the title but most lenders demand it. William S. Stern
