Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

I had a couple questions we are from Washington state and were mailed a summons for court from Michigan state to be sued for allegedly using a name frauduently, my questions are can they legally do a change of venue, is it legal to serve papers by certified mail? Also there are 7 defendant 2 are incarserated for another year, do we wait til after they are out to start going to court?

If you are being sued here in Michigan, there is no change of venue, they must be alleging Michigan is the proper venue. Secondly, service is certainly proper by certified mail. Finally, there is no reason to wait for anything. Plaintiffs can proceed now or wait, their choice. You might be able to allege improper jurisdiction. However, you would have to appear or hire an attorney to do so in Michigan. Certified mail is appropriate for service. You need to act and act now. Waiting is not an option. http://www.wolverinelaw.com
