The most important thing is that she not end up with a criminal record. A good attorney can make this happen. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to discuss the matter in detail. Tim Klisz
The fine for first offense MIP is always $100 with no jail time allowed. However, depending on the judge and the degree of intoxication, the court can order probation requirements which range from nominal to severe with subsequent oversight and counseling costs.
Violation of that probation often results in jail time. The rate of probation violations for first offenders is well above 50% in most courts
You may prefer to get it right the first time by hiring an attorney.
