Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan
dog injured neighbors dog
After continuous barking by our neighbors small dog, our Siberian Huskey dug under our fenced in yard and injured the dog. They had the dog put to sleep. We felt terribly about the situation and imedediatly paid their vet bill. They continue to let their other small dog bark at the fence for hours at a time, even though we have explained to them that this was the reson for the previous problem. They also are now demanding that we pay them $800.00 for their dog that was killed. We have offered to put up a privacy fence that divides our property but they insist on payment or they will take us to court. What should we do? They have been harassing us since the incident, and have even thrown a stuffed animal that looked like the dead dog over the fence with the animals original collar and name tag on it.

You may be liable for the cash value to the dog. Nothing more. I love dogs but that is the law. Bill Stern
